In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients, make a hole and add the wet ingredients. Using a wire / spatula, mix until well blended.
Pour the mixture into a tray lined with baking paper and put in the preheated oven for approx. 35 min, until it passes the toothpick test.
Let it cool completely, then cut it into squares.
Chocolate sauce - put the ingredients in a small saucepan and let it boil, stirring constantly until the margarine melts, finally add the broken chocolate pieces and mix until smooth.
Using a fork, dip each square in the chocolate sauce, then pass it through ground walnuts or coconut and place in a pan.
Let cool 1 hour before serving.

A Brown Dwarf in the Desert
Brown dwarfs are typically defined as objects with masses between 13-80 times that of Jupiter, or 0.013-0.08 times that of the sun. They are too low in mass to fuse hydrogen into helium and become main sequence stars (thus labeled “substellar”), but they are massive enough to fuse deuterium, which sets them apart from giant planets. This deuterium burning phase is relatively short-lived (roughly 4-50 million years), after which brown dwarfs fade into luminosity and appear in many ways similar to high-mass planets. Because deuterium burning does not have a major effect on a brown dwarf after very early stages of its existence, some astronomers prefer a different definition to set apart brown dwarfs and planets, in which brown dwarfs form like stars, and planets form in disks around stars. . I stick to the mass definition of brown dwarfs in this post because that is a property we can measure, whereas formation mechanisms can be difficult to determine.
The “brown dwarf desert” refers to the fact that very few brown dwarfs have been found closely (at less than a few AU) orbiting stars, contrasting with the many hot Jupiters, or high mass planets orbiting very closely to their star, that have been found. Figuring out the cause of this desert is essential to understanding how brown dwarfs form. Three categories of possible brown dwarf formation mechanisms can be summarized as the following:
1) It forms like a single star a molecular cloud core collapses into an isolated object.
2) It forms like a member of a binary or other multi-star system a collapsing molecular cloud core fragments to form multiple objects.
3) It forms like a planet matter gathers from gravitational fragmentation or core accretion in the disk surrounding a young star.
Parviainen et al. (2020) reported the discovery of a unique substellar object, TOI-263b, with the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). TESS uses the transit method for finding exoplanets, where the dimming of a star as a planet (or brown dwarf) passes in front of it allows for the measurement of the orbiting object’s radius. The system & # 8217s host star (TOI-263) is an M3.5 dwarf, a low-mass, cool main sequence star. Observed transit curves for TOI-263b are shown in Figure 1. The team measured a radius in the range of 0.44RJup & lt R & lt 1.41RJup, where RJup is Jupiter’s radius, and an extremely short orbital period of 0.56 days for the transiting object. Due to the object’s size, it was predicted to be either a giant planet or a brown dwarf, but radial velocity measurements were required to determine its mass.

Palle et al. (2021) followed the system up with the ESPRESSO spectrograph using the radial velocity method, studying the motion of the star due to its companion’s gravity in order to measure the companion’s mass. Figure 2 shows the observed radial velocities and the best-fit Keplerian orbital model for the system. The team measured a mass of 61.6 ± 4.0Mjup, where Mjup is Jupiter’s mass, and validated the 0.56 day orbital period.

With the spectroscopic observations, properties of TOI-263 (the host star) were also studied. Its rotational period was determined to be 0.56 days, indicating synchronization with its brown dwarf companion’s orbit. This indicates interaction between the star and brown dwarf that affected the stellar rotation and that the star is active.
An Extreme Inhabitant of the Brown Dwarf Desert
Only about 25 brown dwarfs closely orbiting stars (with periods less than 100 days) have been found with the transit and radial velocity methods, and TOI-263b has the shortest orbit of them all. Figure 3 shows TOI-263b in context with all confirmed exoplanets and brown dwarfs discovered with the transit method and with radial velocity measured masses. TOI-263b is isolated in this space, except being close to NGTS-7ab in mass-period space.

TOI-263b is only the sixth brown dwarf discovered around an M dwarf, and it has the shortest orbital period of any known brown dwarf around any type of star. A brown dwarf orbiting an M dwarf with a 0.56 day period is difficult to understand in terms of formation history. And, due to the spin-orbit synchronization, its dynamic history is unknown. Based on the mass ratio between the M dwarf and its substellar companion, the authors suggest that the formation mechanism must have been either number 2 mentioned above, core fragmentation during star formation, or 3, fragmentation in the formed star's disk, followed by migration inward to the close orbit observed. This extreme and unique system presents an exciting environment for further study to better understand brown dwarf formation.
Making inclusive datasets available to all
Because AI systems model the world based on the data they’re given, people who don’t mirror patterns in the data can be overlooked or actively discriminated against. While the AI community has increasingly acknowledged and worked to improve the fairness of these systems when it comes to gender and race, conversations around being inclusive of people with disabilities are much more nascent, researchers say.
Microsoft Research has launched a multi-pronged effort to define the extent of the problem and avenues for improvement - including the workshop hosted with NYU’s AI Now Institute last year. The workshop convened disability scholars and activists, machine learning practitioners and computer science researchers to begin to discuss how to create AI systems that avoid treating people with disabilities as edge cases or outliers.
“This really points to the question of how‘ normal ’is defined by AI systems and who gets to decide that,” said Kate Crawford, senior principal researcher at Microsoft Research New York and co-founder of the company’s Fairness, Accountability, Transparency and Ethics (FATE) in AI group.
Take the example of a predictive hiring system that assesses video interviews from job candidates and suggests what a “successful” employee will sound and look like, Crawford said.
“Has it been trained on data that suggests that certain abilities or ways of being are standard and therefore desirable? Are people with disabilities or those who are in any way different ranked lower for potential hiring because they differ from the data in the training set? That’s what we really need to be aware of and work against, ”Crawford said.
To advance that goal, one area Microsoft researchers are investigating is how often public datasets commonly used to train AI systems include data from people older than 80, because age correlates strongly with disability. Morris and her colleagues have also been exploring how search algorithms might be tweaked to improve results for people with dyslexia.
Last summer, Microsoft hosted disability technologies expert Shaun Kane, an associate professor of computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder, as a visiting researcher to jointly investigate how intelligent sensing systems can fail to recognize or respond properly to people who use wheelchairs or have amputated limbs , motor disabilities or body morphology that falls outside of the examples those algorithms have been trained on.
Often it’s not obvious what is meaningful to people, and that’s why it’s so important not just to design for - but design these technologies with - people who are in the blind and low vision community.
Microsoft and its grantees are also exploring how to navigate practical challenges and are developing ethical approaches for soliciting AI training data from people with disabilities. Some people who worry about stigma or liabilities don’t want to disclose their disability status, for instance, so maintaining privacy is paramount.
Stumpf’s team reviews each video submitted to the ORBIT dataset to ensure it doesn’t inadvertently include identifying information. They also had to create detailed instructions on how to shoot videos of each item, because they need footage from multiple angles and also want people to be able to collect the data without the help of a sighted person.
In the project’s first phase within the United Kingdom, the team collected several thousand videos, making it by far the largest dataset of its kind. The team plans to open up the second phase of data collection globally in mid-October.
"We are really still working out how to balance getting good data that we can innovate with as researchers and enabling people to be the drivers of the technologies they're going to use in a way that's not too difficult or has too many rules," said Cecily Morrison, principal researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge in the UK. “If people find the process hard or boring, they’re going to think,‘ AI is not for me. ’”
Morrison co-leads Project Tokyo, which focuses on how AI can help people who are blind or have low vision make sense of their environments. To that end, she’s collaborating with Stumpf’s team on algorithms that are able to learn from fewer examples, which could have wide-ranging applications.
The goal is to make the ORBIT dataset publicly available, Stumpf said, to help make everyday life better in as many situations as possible. For example, if a person who is blind is visiting a friend’s house for the first time, a navigation app that relies on a GPS system can only get them so close.
“When you’re standing in front of an address, you still need to know if this is actually my friend’s house or someone else’s house,” Stumpf said. "With pictures of that friend's front door or other places of interest, you could use personalized object recognition to identify locations that are particularly important to you."

Method of preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
2. Peel the bananas (well cooked) and grind them with the potato press.

Method of preparation:
From flour, a pinch of salt and water we prepare an unleavened dough. We break the pieces of dough and spread them with the rolling pin in a rectangular or round shape on a plate on which we sprinkle flour. The sheets must be very thin.
Bake the sheets on the hob or in a Teflon tray on both sides. Let them dry for at least 24 hours. We prepare a warm syrup of 500 ml of water, 3 tablespoons of honey, sugar, flavors and grated orange peel and lemon & acircie
Soak each sheet for 1-2 minutes in syrup. I sprinkled chopped walnuts on a plate. We put the cake in syrup over the walnut, then we sprinkle the walnut and sugar over it, we put another sheet and we repeat the operation until we finish the cakes, writes divainbucatarie.ro.
Cover with walnuts and sugar, pour 4 tablespoons of syrup over them, so that they are well syrupy, then put a wooden bottom over them. In a few hours we put 2-3 more syrup polishes. We cover them with cling film and let them rest for 24 hours and draw all the syrup.
