There currant sauce it is one of the most popular sauces in northern European countries, perfect to use both for sweet preparations and to create a delicious sweet and sour contrast in savory dishes. To make it at home you don't need the skills of a pastry chef or a great chef, fortunately, but only 3 ingredients and a saucepan! On my trip to Stockholm I found currant sauce everywhere and, once back home, I immediately wanted to propose it to my parents to make them taste it in strange combinations. I must say that they appreciated it a lot, especially in the sweet version;) Now I'll show you where I used it, a frappe ';)
How to make currant sauce
Clean the currants by detaching them from the green parts, then wash them thoroughly, dry them and put them in a bowl.
In a saucepan over the fire, prepare a syrup by dissolving the sugar in water.
Then add the currants.
Mix the ingredients and, from the moment of boiling, cook for 15 minutes.
Your currant sauce is ready.
