Birthday cake

Good day everyone, today is my birthday and I want to show you the birthday cake that I have prepared to celebrate my 29 years.
I chose to prepare a chocolate sponge cake and fill it with a milk cream, and for the decorations I used the Marshmellows fondant I made on Saturday. My husband and I had a lot of fun making all these decorations to put on my cake.
It goes without saying that I am very satisfied and happy for my creation;) in the next few days I will put the procedures to make different subjects with the MMF all accompanied by photos, but for now here is the recipe for my birthday cake.


How to make a birthday cake

Melt the butter and dark chocolate in a double boiler in a thick-bottomed saucepan. As soon as the butter and chocolate are melted, add the milk slowly, stirring until it forms a smooth and homogeneous cream.

Let the chocolate cream cool. In the meantime, separate the yolks from the whites, in a bowl whip the yolks with the sugar, and in another whip the egg whites until stiff peaks. As soon as the chocolate cream has cooled, add it to the beaten egg yolks.

Add the sifted flour together with the baking powder to the dough. Finally, gently stir in the whipped egg whites.

Mix until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
Grease and flour a 26 cm cake mold and pour the mixture for the chocolate sponge cake.

Bake the chocolate sponge cake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 30 minutes. Remove the chocolate sponge cake from the oven, turn it over and let it cool.

Meanwhile, prepare the milk cream.
Bring the milk to a boil in a saucepan, as soon as it reaches the boiling point, remove it from the heat and add the flour, vanilla and sifted sugar.

Put the cream back on the heat and let the cream thicken by cooking it for a couple of minutes, stirring constantly.

Once the milk cream has cooled completely, add it to the whipped cream.

Mix the milk cream with a wooden spoon. Then put the cream in the fridge.

Now start assembling the cake.
Prepare a cake syrup by boiling 300 ml of water with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Then add 2 tablespoons of cocoa liqueur and mix.
Cut the chocolate sponge cake into 3 horizontal layers.

Place the base of the cake on a serving dish, wet it with the chocolate syrup and cover it with a layer of milk cream.

Level the layer of cream as much as possible, then cover the filling with the second disc of sponge cake. Lightly wet the sponge cake disc.

Add another layer of filling and cover it with the last disc of sponge cake that you have previously wet.

Now go and cover the whole cake with the remaining filling, or with additional whipped cream, which you will also need to decorate the cake.

These are the decorations that my husband and I prepared: red and yellow roses and pink roses, all in MMF.

And this is the finished "masterpiece" ... my beautiful Birthday Cake, decorated with Marshmallows Fondant ... finally!
